The William States Lee College of Engineering Honors Program at UNC Charlotte is designed for high-achieving students seeking a deeper, more meaningful undergraduate experience. Graduates of the program leave prepared not only with Honors distinction, but with the skills, confidence, and perspective to pursue meaningful careers and continued professional advancement.
Eligibility
To be considered for Engineering Honors, students must:
- Be rising seniors enrolled in their department’s Senior Design capstone course
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (for current or transfer students)
- Demonstrate strong academic performance, engagement in activities and overall achievement
Admission is competitive and based on a comprehensive review of these criteria.
Requirements to Graduate with Engineering Honors
Students admitted to the program must:
- Submit an Application to Candidacy with the Honors College at least one semester prior to graduation
- Successfully complete the required Honors seminar sequence alongside their Senior Design capstone course (offered in both fall and spring):
- ENGR 3790 – Engineering Honors Seminar I
- ENGR 3791 – Engineering Honors Seminar II
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5
- Earn a grade of ‘A’ in their department’s Senior Design capstone course
Completion of these requirements culminates in graduating with Engineering Honors, recognizing both academic excellence and professional distinction.
