Fall 2026 Research Opportunities
This fall the William States Lee College of Engineering will host the College Research Experience Cohort. As an undergraduate engineering student, you can participate in active research projects under the mentorship of faculty while being paid for the experience ($12/hour). Being part of this College Research Experiences Cohort will provide a wide range of benefits.

What is the application process?
Eligibility
The program is open to current undergraduate engineering students who have completed at least 29 credit hours.
Work Hour Guidelines
- Students enrolled in coursework may work up to 20 hours per week.
- Students participating in a summer research project and not enrolled in classes may work up to 40 hours per week.
Program Description
As part of the College of Engineering Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) cohort, participants will take part in four professional development sessions designed to enrich their research experience and foster connections with fellow students, faculty mentors and industry professionals. Participants will also have the opportunity to earn a Credly Digital Badge recognizing their engagement and achievements in the program.

While the general OUR Program deadline for Fall 2026 has passed, the Spring 2027 program application opens September 14, 2026, and closes October 14, 2026. Please monitor this page for updates and updated faculty research openings, and contact listed faculty members directly via email to apply.

As part of the program, you’ll have exclusive support opportunities, including:
- A welcome and onboarding meeting that provides useful resources and points of contact to optimize your research efforts
- A professional portrait appropriate for use in your LinkedIn account or at research conferences
- Information sessions on effective data representation for papers and conferences, and presentation do’s and don’ts for technical audiences
- Networking sessions with W.S. Lee College of Engineering alumni who leveraged their REU experience to broaden their career opportunities
- Information sessions about graduate school financial support opportunities and how to get a head start on a master’s program in order to earn your MS degree sooner
- The opportunity to showcase your research via a poster or YouTube video on the College website
