Transfer Pathways and Advising
UNC Charlotte works closely with community colleges and other institutions to provide clear pathways for students transferring into engineering programs. Advisors help transfer students understand how their coursework applies to their degree and assist with planning a successful transition.
Associate of Engineering (AE) or Associate of Science (AS)
Students who complete an Associate of Engineering (AE) or Associate of Science (AS) degree at a community college may transfer into engineering programs at UNC Charlotte. Many of these courses align with the first two years of an engineering degree and may apply toward major requirements.
Associate of Applied Science (AAS)
Students with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree may transfer into engineering technology or construction management programs. These programs often follow a 2+2 pathway, allowing students to complete their bachelor’s degree after transferring.
