Accessing Linux

To access Linux from a personal computer the program FastX must be used. Off campus you will need to first connect using the campus VPN. The VPN can be downloaded VPN at Charlotte and an article on setting it up for the first time is VPN Setup. Use the table below to download and install FastX.

Linux Compute Servers

Our Linux server pool consists of a number of very high end servers with many CPU cores and a large memory footprint. These Linux servers are available for all engineering students, faculty and staff to use from anywhere on campus or remotely via the campus VPN.

University Research Computing (URC)

University Research Computing (URC) is one of several support groups within OneIT. The mission of this organization  is to support the unique computing needs of UNC Charlotte’s community of researchers, including students by developing shared computing facilities and offering specialized services that would be difficult for individual research groups or departments to provide internally.
