The Engineering Freshman Learning Community (EFLC) holds info sessions during Open House and Admitted Students Day events. Applications are open from mid-February to June 1.
The program helps first-year engineering students at the W.S. Lee College of Engineering succeed in their coursework by building a supportive community of students with similar goals.
It is open to all first-year engineering students, including freshmen, transfers and dual-enrollment students who have been admitted to the college. It is a residential program and students live in suite-style housing in Hawthorne Hall for both fall and spring semesters. Each suite has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room and the building includes study areas, lounges, laundry, kitchen facilities and vending machines. The Creativity Lab is located in Smith Hall (Smith 260).
The Freshman Learning Community (FLC) at UNC Charlotte helps engineering students start strong in one of the university’s most challenging and rewarding programs. Students gain a smooth transition into coursework while joining a supportive community of peers with similar goals. The program provides early hands-on engineering experience, builds strong study habits and connects students with key campus resources, setting them up for long-term success.
